Winery of Distinction

Awarded to the winery that has the best overall weighted performance as determined by medals granted versus wines entered in the competition.

Director Parks Redwine, the Dean of American Wine Competitions, congratulates Barefoot Cellars (California, USA) as the 2004 Winery of Distinction.

Directors’ Prism Award

Awarded to the producer or family of producers with the most exemplary performance across the price and quality spectra

Director and Chief Judge Tom Reagan presents the inaugural award to Beringer Blass Wine Estates for decades of commitment to fine wine at all value levels. Representing unique heritage wineries from around the world, Beringer Blass Wine Estates, with its energetic devotion to excellence in all that it produces, sets the standard for the worldwide wine industry.

 Generations Award

Director Thom Perry lauds Hinnant Family Vineyards (North Carolina, USA) as the winner of the Generations Award. He added, "The family-owned business represents over 80% of our economy. These are the people who exemplify entrepreneurship, excellence and persistence. They pour their hearts, dreams and fortunes into creating and maintaining a family culture. For generations, winemaking has been largely a family enterprise. Father and son team, Willard and Bob Hinnant, made a dream a reality, and assisted by Bob’s wife Amanda, have demonstrated superior wine-making ability and their commitment to the family system."
