About the 2003 Columbia Valley Cabernet Franc:

This Cabernet Franc is  ruby in color and has a rich, velvety texture with soft tannins. The wine has a nose of dark cherry and berries wrapped in a blanket of toasted oak. The flavors of black cherry, plum and vanilla cream are smooth on the palate with waves of complex flavors on the long lingering finish. The wine is drinking wonderfully now and will develop more complexity and age gracefully over the next several years.

The wine is 88% Cabernet Franc from the magical 8-acre Chelle den Pleasant vineyard in Prosser and is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon from Seven Hills and Bacchus vineyards; 375 cases were produced and all is self-distributed.

About Barrister:

Owned by 2 attorney/winemakers, Barrister Winery is located in the 100 year-old Hobson Building in the historic Davenport Arts district in downtown Spokane. Barrister produces only red wine and uses grapes from some of Washington’s most prestigious vineyards. All of the grapes are hand picked, and barrel-aged in French and American Oak.

In the fall of 1997 Greg Lipsker and Mike White bought their first 5 gallon home winemaking kit. Since then winemaking has become the “little hobby that got out of control”.

Last fall Barrister Winery crushed just over 27 tons of grapes. From that they will produce about 1,700 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. Their 2002 Cabernet Franc took several top honors at the 2004 Los Angeles County Fair Wines of the World Limited Production Special Awards category, including a gold medal, best of class, best red wine, and best wine of the competition.

Greg and Mike say "We are both pretty passionate about wine and we try to make wine in the style we like to drink - Fruit forward, full bodied with soft tannins. We are striving to produce premium quality hand-crafted wines.  Although it’s a business now, it is still a labor of love.

“We can’t possible do it without our friends. They show up time after time for six weeks to help with tasks like loading grapes by hand into the crusher destemmer and thankless jobs like cleaning tanks.”
